A joint effort between 14-yo daughter and me. I made the dough early in the day, meaning to roll, fill and bake in the afternoon in time for “teatime”, but got busy instead with the garden until it was almost dinnertime. Luckily, Aisa is quite the baker and has been for years, so I asked her to finish up the recipe for me and she obliged. She’s also becoming a consummate blogger, and like the rest of the family is a foodie in more ways than one. So the cookies were baked, and she took this pic.

I’d post the recipe but I can’t find it right now, it was on the label of the lekvar can. Maybe if my daughter posts it on her blog I can link it here.

I don’t know what it is about Jewish recipes that attract me. And I’ve always wondered why my Jewish friends love Chinese food. My hubby’s landlady long ago, who was Jewish, used to sneak Chinese food into the house that she did not want her sister to see (she was not supposed to be eating pork from a non-kosher establishment). What’s funny is that once she and her sister took us out to lunch at a Chinese restaurant that served an unbelievably good hot and sour soup…. I miss Mrs. Z. The last two times we were in St. Lou and called her, her phone was disconnected….
