Brownies

recipe from the Allergy Self-Help Cookbook
Hubby Rating:
Me: 3 stars? Are you sure? Considering you might not ever be able to eat a real, honest-to-goodness traditional brownie again?
Hubby Rating, Revised:
Kids’ Ratings, First 15 minutes, still warm from the oven:
Kids’ Ratings, the next day: No Thanks, Mom
I will have to devise my own recipe. I’m thinking something with tofu to replace the egg and provide body, a bit of applesauce to replace the butter, maybe even a flaxseed-water mixture to replace the egg, and definitely REAL cocoa, not carob powder as used in this recipe. To be honest, I thought the brownie was pretty good for being egg-less, dairy-less, and wheat-less. A bit moist but firm fresh out of the oven. Just gets really dry, almost choke-inducing as it cools. And the flavor doesn’t really scream BROWNIE, since it’s carob and grape-juice-concentrate mainly. Sigh… will try again.
If you still want the recipe, let me know and I’ll post it.

That comment from the kids is funny! The texture in the photo looks pretty good but I assume those are the warm ones? I was also thinking applesauce would be a good addition. Good luck!
