Still haven't gotten one. We thought at first hubby was going to be gone for a month, but he's going to be gone for 2 weeks only and will be coming home on the weekend.... so that means he only needs one week's worth of food at a time.... can't justify the cost yet, and I wanted to get the professional $200+ one. So maybe one day.... I did look for the new Pyrex ones with a push-button that vacuums the air out when you push it -- but alas! I should have gotten it when I first saw it at Target. They don't carry it anymore, and I haven't found it anywhere online, not even on Pyrex' website. Was it just my imagination then? Who knows.... I did get a plastic container with a vacuum seal, for $4.99. Just to test it out. I'm not too happy with it. It's made in Korea. Don't think it does the job it's supposed to do. I have had the same thought about the plastic part, but since I'm not reheating in the plastic or cooking in it, I figured freezing is ok. I think it would be useful in your situation, but not very cost effective if you are only going to use it once. It is costly to replace the bage, but I label mine and reuse them after washing.
