Thanks for the suggestions, gals. Still haven't gotten one. We thought at first hubby was going to be gone for a month, but he's going to be gone for 2 weeks only and will be coming home on the weekend.... so that means he only needs one week's worth of food at a time.... can't justify the cost yet, and I wanted to get the professional $200+ one. So maybe one day....

I did look for the new Pyrex ones with a push-button that vacuums the air out when you push it -- but alas! I should have gotten it when I first saw it at Target. They don't carry it anymore, and I haven't found it anywhere online, not even on Pyrex' website. Was it just my imagination then? Who knows....

I did get a plastic container with a vacuum seal, for $4.99. Just to test it out. I'm not too happy with it. It's made in Korea. Don't think it does the job it's supposed to do.

I've got one. Hubby got it from Walmart... cheap. Works cheap. If you bought yours at
Costco then you got a better product. It works well. I generally use mine when I make sushi
and have extra frozen sashimi grade fish to consume next week. Works wonders despite the
fact that mine is broke. :(

I do have one, from Costco I believe. It's a middle of the line one and I do enjoy it!! I use it a lot for meat in bulk and for leftovers. I have had the same thought about the plastic part, but since I'm not reheating in the plastic or cooking in it, I figured freezing is ok. I think it would be useful in your situation, but not very cost effective if you are only going to use it once. It is costly to replace the bage, but I label mine and reuse them after washing. (not the meat ones though) Good luck and HTH!!
OT:your comment box is running across the page underneath your archives and I can't see what I am typing underneath the archives, so hopefully no spelling mistakes!!
