Tell Me About Your Vita-Mix!
The Oster blender my hubby got me for our first Christmas together 17 years ago finally went kaput. I’d get another one as it did really serve me well, but want to look at other options, even if it’s a bit more expensive, if it happens to have more capabilities that I might be interested in. BUT if I don’t have to spend that much, I want to know that too, so all opinions welcome.
So considering the Vita-Mix, but open to other suggestions. Brands, prices, sources, suggestions for what to do with it besides blend and puree…
Is the Vita-Mix also a juicer? Anyone have a Waring? Opinions, comparisons?

I can’t believe your Oster blender lasted 17 years. None of our appliances work that long – especially the vacuum cleaner.
I’m a fan of the old school looking Osters myself. You can find one for under 50 dollars at Target.
Is there a Costco near you? Occassionally, the one by us has demos. A friend of mine bought hers at a county fair maybe 8 years ago now. She’d done her research before buying and she was very happy with it once she had it.
You might also want to compare the cost of getting a good stand mixer that has a juicing attachment. Back when my friend bought it, the Vita Mix was pretty costly.
LOL, Ken. Yeah, I had to replace the razor blade once, but that was it. That thing was a workhorse!
Thanks for the tip, Rochelle. Haven’t decided, we’ll see!
I’ll check out Costco, Phisch, thanks! Haven’t decided though. I’m thinking a powerful-enough blender plus a juicer may be more like it. I have a grain mill so I might not need the extra stuff that the V-M has.
Oooh, Phisch, your suggestion has me thinking. Maybe I’ll get a blender attachment for my DLX mixer instead. That makes more sense…
I’ve had a Vita-Mix for two years, and it has more than paid for itself. I make peanut butter in it, as well as my own flours. It is not a juicer in the traditional sense, but rather creates juices with lots of pulp (you control how much). The book that comes with it is comprehensive and helpful. You can even make soup in it. It’s one powerful machine.
Thank you for your input, Cyn! I’m reading with interest… can’t have peanut butter, but maybe I can make things like hazelnut and almond butter… those, hubby can have. I already make my own flour with the grainmill and that’s why I’m having second thoughts on this. But still on the list….
You asked the right person. I bought at least 8 machines for friends and myself already.
I like that so much. It takes me 10 minutes to have a fresh juice including clean up. In addition to that, I make frozen juice for my friends in the hot summer. Everyone compliments that.
I cannot see any blender which has 7 years warranty. I know that is expensive, but it worthies.
You can use this code(06-002320) to get the free shipping($25US/$35CN) . But you need to call their seller instead of buying from the internet.
If you could find another person to buy together, both of you can get 5% discount.
If you have any questions, welcome to ask me.
