Barbara Bell did give permission, but as I understand it several months later she realized (or someone told her) that the manual was being shared through an Internet group and I guess her "advisers" didn't think it was a good idea (there was speculation on motivation, but nothing conclusive, so I won't repeat here) -- the list owners thought they were very clear about how the manual was to be "shared" but there must have been some miscommunication along the way. In short, they had to take it offline. Many people complained but the decision was final. I was disappointed too, but what can you do... Anyway, thanks for commenting.
