Oh Jennifer,

That is too funny. When our public school system announced it was switching to investigations and that elementary students were no longer going to memorize basic math facts (like multiplication tables) we were done. How is a kid supposed to handle Algebra if they aren't fluent with basic math facts?

I'm reeling here, I remember some of those examples from a progressive school I was pulled from by my mathematician of a father! They had parent meetings at night to teach the parents the new math. What they didn't realize was Dad sat there and enthusiastially guided every single problem shared on the board to the wrong answer. At the end of the night he stood up, revealed what he had done and informed the teacher and principal that my sister and I would not be returning to that school the next day.

Wow-thanks. As I always struggle with wondering if I am doing the "right thing" to have her pick up a Singapore Math text at the end made me feel so good! I really wasn't expecting that.
Singapore is hard for ds at times but I love how it teaches and how he thinks when he "gets it."

Hi Stef,

Yes, I agree. :-) Wholeheartedly.

I used one of your flowers, instead of the picture of the bird. I thought it was perfect for Father's Day. Blessings to your hubby and to you...

Love,
Easter:-)

I HATE investigations math. My mother teaches 3rd and 4th graders and has to use investigations math. This was one of the reasons we decided to homeschool.
