It’s been a fairly relaxed Sunday around here… slept in, had a leisurely brunch since I had cooked the chicken last night. Got to chat with our favorite people after Mass. The boys had a Friends-of-Scouting event right after.

A friend had requested help with some Lenten meatless dishes yesterday, so while the boys were gone I went through my recipe index and found, to my consternation, that there’s a lot of work in that area that needs redoing. Many of the linked recipes were ones I wrote years ago when I was still blogging for pay at a couple of places, and many of the links don’t work. I’m adding that to the list of to-do’s.

In going through those, I got to reminiscing about old food blogging friends, and realized that my list of “169 Pinoy Foodies” which I had on here for a long while needed to go (it’s in the trash now). I don’t even keep in touch with most of them anymore. So part of this post is dedicated to my favorite food blogs and food bloggers. Many of them have gone on to greater things beyond food blogging, and I’m so very happy to see that — especially the ones who were young single women at the time I “met” them online, ~8 years ago or so — and who are now happily married and have a kid or two. A handful of the Filipino food bloggers I’ve managed to remain in contact with via e-mail and/or Facebook, but some I’ve sadly lost track of so it was an enjoyable afternoon I spent googling their blogs/names and finding that a whole bunch of them are still online.

So — in no particular order, my favorite food blogs from long ago, still plodding away:

Iska at Iskandals
Joey at 80 Breakfasts
Stel at Baby Rambutan
Kai at Bucaio
“Manang” Lorrie at Kusina ni Manang

Analyn at Balut Penoy
Karen at My Pilgrim’s Pots and Pans — Karen, my partner in crime for Lasang Pinoy

And then there are others I miss like Clare who used to write at eatstuff.net, Nordljus, Lafang, spiCes, Becks & Posh, Chez Pim, and the always elegant Kuidaore.

There were some really fun times there, like the Paper Chef events, Is My Blog Burning, Sugar High Fridays, etc. At the time there were some who were convinced food blogs were just a fad, but hey, many of them are still here, and after all these years, I’m still a fan.
