Very beautifully said. I am married to a Filipino and started homeschooling 27 years ago. Most of our family left the Church and even though I never heard of homeschooling I pulled our children out of school because I felt there was no other choice. They were God’s and I had a responsibility to raise them for God. It was very difficult because many think like Ron. It was the best decision I ever made because now all nine of our children are grown and they all know what the Church truly is and not as the media and secular world would have them believe. Thank you for your blog. It is very inspiring to see a Filipino family dedicated to the Church and to homeschooling.

Hi Ron — thank you for visiting. Sorry to hear that’s how you feel. I do want to make a few points about the Pope and the Church for anyone else who has similar concerns. The Pope does not celebrate that sinful people have escaped prosecution, and he has not condoned withholding the truth. If you have facts to support your claim please provide them. The Pope is not personally responsible for sinful men’s actions so calling him an evil man is not justified. The Church after all is not made of perfect people, but imperfect ones, including priests — and even the Pope himself has to confess his sins to one. That’s why we all still need God’s grace and mercy and forgiveness. Yes there are many who have been hurt, but what will help most is not a spirit of condemnation, but constant prayer. Our society is what it is because many of us have turned away from God… that we have pedophile priests is only a reflection of the society we have — a society that puts such a low value on life, that doesn’t understand exactly how to practice chastity, that celebrates pornography, etc. Prayers for the Pope that he may always be guided by our Lord will go a long way as well.

I innocently followed your link from a flower site expecting to learnmore about edible flowers. Then I was hit with catholic dogma at 6 am. Not a way I like to start my day. So I’ll speak my mind. Your site celebrates goodness towards God and family. I commend you for that. But the Pope celebrate that hundreds if not thousands of Priests have escaped prosecusion for pedifile activities. While hundreds of thousands of children have been victimized and their lives ruined by catholic priests The Pope has condoned withholding the truth about their ungodly crimes against humanity from prosecusion. How anybody can follow such an evil man is beyond me.

Hi Ms. Stef,

I have tried your recipe of pan de sal and it’s really wonderful, i can’t believe i was able to make real pan de sal.

I just want to ask, would it be alright if i add more sugar and lessen the salt? Some members of the family like it a little sweeter, but im afraid it will affect the entire process of cooking pandesal.
