October’s “Craft of the Month” for our family were rosaries to be given away at Christmas, and sacrifice beads for ourselves. October was Month of the Holy Rosary, after all, and October 1st was St. Therese’s feast day.

Today’s November 3rd, and we hadn’t quite finished our rosaries, which I was hoping to finish by the 31st. They’re mostly done (Aisa finished hers in an hour, but then she’s the expert beader and knotter in the family). Paco learned how to knot with the knotting tool, so he volunteered to do all knots after the first couple of rosaries. The little ones stringed the beads. There were a few times they expressed frustration with things not turning out quite the way they wanted, and I’d gently remind them each time, “It’s okay. It doesn’t have to be perfect. They would know you made it for them and that’s what matters.”

Well, this evening, I gathered the kids together so we can finish up those last knots and cut those cords. While doing so, I noticed that one of the rosaries had an Our Father bead that was black instead of brown as it was supposed to be. So I told the kids that I was going to un-knot that portion so we can redo it. I breathed a sigh of discontent as I proceeded to undo the knot with a needle. Being almost 40 and my eyes knowing this, I was having a hard time. Yena objects, telling me I didn’t have to redo it. I showed her the misplaced bead, and then she says,

“But mom, you said it didn’t have to be perfect!”

Heh. Aisa and I had to laugh.

Then Paco chimes in, “Mom, you did say it doesn’t have to be perfect! That what matters is that we made it for them! You said so, EXPLICITLY!”

You see, yesterday, I was giving Migi a light scolding over some misbehavior, and I used the word (then had to explain it as Migi didn’t understand). Paco heard, apparently. So now it’s being used on me. LOL.

Kids! 😀

We got our rosary materials here and our sacrifice beads materials here. I ordered extra saint medals for the kids (their namesakes) to go with their sacrifice beads at the Rosary Shop as well.
