The last few weeks I’ve been re-applying the lessons I learned from David Allen’s Getting Things Done. I have managed to whittle my piles quite a bit that I can now sit at my desk and not be so overwhelmed with the stuff surrounding me. I still have a few more weeks to go and hope to be completely decluttered by the time school starts. The kids need help in this department as well, so to help Yena (10) get into GTD mode and hopefully keep these habits as she grows older, I’ve made a kid version of the GTD flowchart. It’s simplified and tailored to her needs also as a homeschooler and incorporates a spirit of “holy detachment”; I added in a “Donate” icon.

Here’s the pdf version.

And if you’d like more resources on holy detachment, Abby Sasscer’s book Simplifying Your Domestic Church was a big, big help to me. She’s also got a children’s book that you might want to check out, Sophie’s Stuff.
